Duchess of Cambridge Visits National Portrait Gallery

In her first official solo outing, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the National Portrait Gallery in London this evening. The Duchess toured the Lucian Freud exhibition which opens to the public tomorrow, February 9th.

Upon arrival to the Gallery, Catherine was greeted by Gallery directors and the Culture Secretary, Jeremy Hunt.

During her tour of the exhibition – which features 130 of Freud artworks, many of them nudes – the Duchess of Cambridge met and spoke with Bella Freud, the late artist’s daughter, and Mary McCartney. Ms McCartney later told reporters that Catherine, “took an interest in all of us,” and she had seen McCartney’s own photography. “It’s so exciting that she’s become involved {with the Gallery},” McCartney said. The Duchess became patron of the National Portrait Gallery last month.

For the visit, Catherine wore a grey tweed coat dress from designer Jesire, paired with black accessories.
