Crown Prince Couple attends NHO Conference
On January 5th, 2012 the annual NHO (Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise) Conference took place at the Opera and Ballet House in Oslo. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the opening and the first part of the conference. Also in attendance were the NHO President Kristin Skogen Lund, who welcomed the Crown Prince Couple, and Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
The NHO is the largest trade association for companies in Norway. It is a confederation of the Norwegian Crafts Association (already founded in 1886), the Norwegian Industrial Association and the Norwegian Employers’ Association, who merged in 1989. About 20,500 companies of different sectors are members of the NHO.
Each year, the NHO Conference gathers about 1,300 business leaders, leaders in the public sector, politicians, academics and experts to lecture and debate. This year’s NHO Conference carries the title “All the Great Powers” and deals with the topic ‘Europe in Crisis’ and its implications on Norway.
The NHO’s aim is to “ensure that members provide working conditions and development opportunities that strengthen the corporate competitiveness and profitability, and thus create the basis for a good standard of living in a healthy economic growth and sustainable society”.
