British Royal Family – July/August Events
The Summer months are usually a time of rest and relaxation for the royals, but it seems the British Royal Family were as busy as ever.
July 4th – Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond met with Queen Elizabeth at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland.
July 4th – Princess Anne has arrived in Botswana for a two day official visit. It’s her third official visit to Botswana after 1999 and 2003.
July 5th – Princess Anne among other events attended “the Queen’s Birthday Party” celebration and placed a wreath at the Commonwealth War Graves Memorial in Gaborone.
July 6th – Queen Elizabeth accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, opened Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Stirling Road, Larbert.
July 8th – On behalf of the Queen, Princess Anne conducted an investiture ceremony at the city hall of Durban, South Africa. Princess Anne is currently attending the 123rd IOC meeting in Durban.
July 11th – Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh hosted a reception for the Praemium Imperiale Awards at Buckingham Palace in London. Prince and Princess Hitachi of Japan were present as well.
July 12th – The Duke of Edinburgh opened the new Sammy Ofer Wing of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London.
And in the afternoon the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
On July 12, the Queen received His Excellency the Ambassador of Chad, Mr Ahmat Awad Sakine and His Excellency the High Commissioner for Vanuatu, Mr Roy Mickey Joy, who presented their Letters of Credence at Buckingham Palace.
July 14th , the Queen met Aminatta Forna, winner of the 2011 Commonwealth Writers Prize and received Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Najib Razak with his wife Rosmah Mansor.
Later a reception for winners of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise was held at Buckingham Palace.
July 15th, Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh made a visit to Bletchley Park,
Milton Keynes and paid tribute to the codebreakers that worked at Bletchley Park.
July 18th, Princess Anne, accompanied by husband Timothy, officially opened the
newly built club house for Mylor Yacht Club, Falmouth.
July 19th – Queen Elizabeth received the Ambassador of Togo Calixte Batossie Madjoulba and Jordan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mazen Homoud at an audience at Buckingham Palace.
July 20th – HM Queen Elizabeth attended a homecoming service at Lichfield Cathedral, held for the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry following their return from operations in Afghanistan in Lichfield.
July 27th , The Princess Royal President, British Olympic Association, held a Team 2012 Dinner at St. James’s Palace.
The Princess Royal President, British Olympic Association, attended the International Olympic Committee’s One Year to Go Ceremony at Trafalgar Square, London WC2.
July 28th, The Princess Royal opened the new Medway Park Sports Centre at Mill Road, Gillingham, Kent and subsequently attended the Modern Pentathlon European Championships.
July 29th = The Princess Royal visited Main Library and opened the ‘Women Firsts’ project at The University of Edinburgh, Library Building, 30 George Square, Edinburgh.
The month of August,
3rd August 2011 – The Princess Royal attended the Arran Farmers’ Society 175th Annual Show at Glenkiln, Lamlash, Isle of Arran, Buteshire.
The Princess Royal also visited Wigtown Agricultural Show to mark the 200th Anniversary of Wigtown Agricultural Society at Bladnoch Park, Wigtown, Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire.
9th August 2011 – The Princess Royal Honorary Member, Royal Yacht Squadron, attended a Reception and Dinner at The Castle, Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The Princess Royal Master, The Corporation of Trinity House, visited Trinity House Vessel GALATEA, Portland, Dorset, and subsequently travel on board to Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The Princess Royal Honorary Member, Royal Yacht Squadron, visited the offices of Cowes Week Limited at Regatta House, Bath Road, Cowes, Isle of Wight.
10th August 2011 – The Princess Royal President, Royal Yachting Association, attended the OnBoard Festival, Shrape Breakwater, Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The Princess Royal Master, The Corporation of Trinity House attended a Reception and Dinner on board Trinity House Vessel GALATEA, Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The Princess Royal President, Save The Children UK, visited a shop, 1 St. Thomas Square, Ryde, Isle of Wight.
The Princess Royal Patron, United Kingdom Sailing Academy, visited projects at Cowes Week 2011, Arctic Road, Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The Princess Royal opened the new Royal National Lifeboat Institution Lifeboat Station and named a Lifeboat at Lane End Road, Bembridge, Isle of Wight.
11th August 2011 – The Duke of Edinburgh Honorary Fellow, The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, visited Edinburgh Zoo.
The Duke of Edinburgh Member, Royal National Lifeboat Institution (R.N.L.I.), opened the Queensferry Lifeboat Station, Edinburgh.
The Duke of Edinburgh Patron, Action Medical Research, held a Reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
11th August 2011 – The Duke of Edinburgh Patron, Outward Bound Trust, held a Lunch in Edinburgh.
The Princess Royal started the X One Design Centenary Boat Race, Royal Yacht Squadron Line, The Parade, Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The Princess Royal Director, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games attended a Chefs de Mission Dinner at Guildhall, London EC2.
12th August 2011 – The Duke of Edinburgh Honorary Fellow, presented the Royal Medals at Royal Society of Edinburgh.
