Dominican President Visits Jordan
The President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez Reyna, paid an official visit to Jordan between June 18th and 20th, 2011. On the second day of their visit to Jordan the President and his wife, Margarita de Fernandez Cedeño, were welcomed by King Abdullah and Queen Rania at the Royal Offices in Amman.
King Abdullah and Leonel Fernandez met behind closed doors and were later joined by senior officials from the two countries. King and President stressed their commitment to developing cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of politics, economy, commerce and tourism, according to a Royal Court statement.
Queen Rania discussed with the Dominican First Lady issues related to education, the impact of social networks and the use of the technology, with emphasis on the Community Technology Centers, created by the First Lady’s office in the Dominican Republic.
Later on Sunday, His Majesty held a dinner banquet in honour of the President and his wife at Basman Palace. Queen Rania was not present at the dinner because she departed to Norway, where she attented the reception with the United Nations Foundation Board of Directors on Monday.
