The past week in Monaco, Monegasques were buzzing about — well, yes, the princely wedding, but also something else, quite different! It was Monacology Week, or the “Eco Village” in the Quai Antoine I.

Since 2005, a week has been set aside for what can be considered the Principality’s version of an ecological fair in the Port Hercule. It was started by Kate Powers and Didier Rubiolo, owners of the Stars n’ Bars franchaise and longtime friends of the Prince. The Monacology Association is dedicated to educating the public about climate change and environmental sustainability.

Joined by many institutions in the Principality, including the International Agency of Atomic Energy, the Monacology week is the host of talks about electric cars and the promotion of scooters — “less glamorous but all very practical too,” reported the Monaco Matin. The Monacology week ran from 14-17 June.
