Mette-Marit attends the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS in New York

Crown Princess Mette-Marit travelled to New York on June 8th to attend the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). The Crown Princess is a Special Representative for UNAIDS and member of the young leaders . During the first day she attended the opening of the UN High Level Meeting, that was officially opened by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Afterwards the Crown Princess attended a panel debate about the HIV/AIDs response.
She also attended a Norwegian event on women’s and children’s health.
The global campaign focusing on the health of women and children was first launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2010.
Later the day the Crown Princess attended a moderated discussion between UN Secretary-General, the Executive Director of UNAIDS and the President of Rwanda Paul Kagame.

During the second day Crown Princess Mette-Marit was in attendance when the Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development held a speech for the UN General Assembly High Level Meeting on AIDS.
Later the day she also attended the programm “Women, Girls and HIV” which was organised by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS.
