Two Weeks To Go – Countdown to the Royal Wedding

There are only two weeks to go until what is being dubbed the royal wedding of the decade, the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

Information regarding the wedding has been slower in release this past week, the main information posted on the official wedding website being that of the charities the Royal Wedding Fund will assist. We have learnt the basic program of the wedding day however.

Guests will begin arriving at Westminster Abbey at 08:30, with the foreign dignitaries and British Royal Family arriving after 10:00. Naturally, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will be the last to arrive before the bride, who will make her entrance at 11:00. Information regarding Miss Middleton’s wedding dress designer will be released when she arrives to the Abbey. The ceremony is expected to finish at 12:15, with the bridal couple heading back along the processional route to Buckingham Palace, appearing on the balcony at 13:25.

Clarence House also confirmed this week that Miss Middleton has been confirmed into the Church of England, during a private family ceremony at St James’ Palace. In attendance were only her immediate family and fiancé, Prince William. Clarence House stated that it was Miss Middleton’s decision to be confirmed, “as part of her marriage preparations.”

Another royal house revealed who will be representing them at the wedding, the Spanish Royal Family will be represented by Queen Sofia and the Prince and Princess of Asturias. A Danish journalist also quasi-revealed that it will be Queen Margrethe II and Henrik, the Prince Consort who will be heading to London on the 29th, as she spoke to Crown Prince Frederik who said he and his wife, Crown Princess Mary, would not be attending and that he was under the impression “only heads of state were invited”. UPDATE – Queen Margrethe II has confirmed her solo attendance at the wedding.

And for all you tech-savy royal wedding watchers out there, there are several  iPhone Apps which have been released in the lead-up to the wedding, including one official App from the Royal Collection to be released on April 18th. The ‘Royal Weddings App’ will feature information and images about seven weddings in the British Royal Family, from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
