German One-Day Visit to the Netherlands
On Wednesday March 23, the German President, Christian Wulff, and his wife Bettina made a visit to Netherlands.
In the morning, the Frau Wulff opened the 62nd edition of the annual flower exhibition of Keukenhof in Lisse. Accompanied by her husband and Prince Willem-Alexander, she had a tulip named after her: the Tulip Bettina Wulff.
The German Presidential Couple visited the exhibition because “Germany, Land of Poets and Thinkers” is this year’s theme of the Keukenhof. There is a mosaic of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, comprising more than 100,000 bulbs. The trail “Walk of Fame” is dedicated to German celebrities, such as the Brothers Grimm.
After the visit to the Keukenhof, Prince Willem-Alexander left the couple at Huis ten Bosch in The Hague for an audience with Queen Beatrix.
Next month the Queen Beatrix, along with Prince of Orange and Princess Maxima, will pay a state visit to Germany between April 12 and 15. It will be the second state visit by the Queen to Germany.
