Dutch Royal Family Participate in NL DOET 2011
The Dutch Royal family participated in the national voluntary action NL DOET on March 18 and 19, 2011.The official press release from the RVD can be found HERE.
NL DOET is organised by the Orange Fund. The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima are the patrons of the fund. The official website of NL DOET can be found HERE and the official website of the Orange Fund can be found HERE.
The Orange Fund was founded in 2002 as a wedding gift to the Prince of Orange and Máxima Zorreguieta. According to the official website, “The Orange Fund is the largest social fund in the Netherlands and it aims to promote participation in society”.
On March 18, Queen Beatrix, Prince Bernhard, Princess Annette and Prince Pieter Christiaan helped the Foundation Grote Broer in Nijmegen, while the Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima took care of the English High Tea at nursing home “De Opmaat” in Monstar.
On March 19, Prince Floris and Princess Aimée helped at the hospital wing of Havenzicht, which is part of CDV, in Rotterdam, while Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien helped with the renovation of the building of the Waterscouts in Vlissingen. Prince
Maurits and Princess Marilène taught kick boxing and street dance at the sporting centre of Ronald McDonald. Prince Maurits and Princess Marilène are members of the committee of recommendation of the Ronald McDonald Childrens Fund.
Around 300.000 people participated in the largest national voluntary action of the Netherlands. This year, Bonaire joined the Netherlands with NL DOET. In Bonaire it’s called BON DOET and about 400 volunteers volunteered. In addition to those people who volunteered, other people started to help spontaneously.
