Today Princess Marie made her début speech in Danish when she was opening the UNESCO “Images of the Future” exhibition and gave a welcoming speech. Billed Bladet, a Danish magazine, gushed about her Danish skills, declaring her to have “really captured the Danish tone” and saying that she spoke with a “clear and soft pronunciation” and declared that now “no-one can be in any doubt that she will be fluent in Danish shortly. Although this is not the first time she has spoken in Danish in a speech – she did so before she even got married – this is the first entire speech she has given in the language.

You can see a video of her speech here, which also includes the then-Princess Alexandra’s first speech in Danish and Crown Princess Mary’s first Danish speech during her engagement. A photo gallery from Billed Bladet is available here.
