The Duke of Edinburgh Back in Action at Sandringham
After two weeks of speculation about the state of his health, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh made his first public appearance this weekend since injuring his back in a carriage driving accident. He accompanied his wife, HM The Queen, to a Sunday morning church service at St. Mary Magdalen’s near Sandringham House, and walked unaided from the car to the steps of the church.
He was also photographed this weekend out on a shoot on the Sandringham estate, though he viewed the action from his Land Rover. Palace sources have downplayed reports that The Duke might be seriously ill, reminding the press that what appeared to be two blackened eyes in a photograph were rather simply discolored skin, a normal result of Philip’s advancing age. The Duke is 87.
