Nordic World Ski Championships in Olso
On Wednesday evening the Royal couple and the Crown Prince family attended the opening ceremony of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Olso.
They watched the King’s Guard and The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces showed the way for the 1700 children, who represented the participating nations and walked from the Palace Square down Palace Hill to University Square. In the evening the Royals attended a banquet at Oslo City Hall , hosted by Mayor of Oslo Fabian Stang.
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 lasts from February 23rd to March 6th. Athletes from 50 nations will compete in 21 different competitions at the Holmenkollen arena. There will be cross-country, Nordic combined and ski jumping competitions, as well as several cultural events. The Norwegian Royals are scheduled to attend many of the competitions.
