Crown Princess Maxima Attended Two Events in Arnhem
On Tuesday morning, February 08, Princess Maxima paid a working visit to Food Banks. Princess Maxima learnt about the affairs of the food bank Arnhem, where all activities are carried out by volunteers. Topics that were discussed include the recruiting of volunteers, the amount of available products and the expiry dates of food. Princess Maxima finally got a tour of the warehouse of the food bank.
The same day, Princess Maxima opened the construction of Practical Produce in Arnhem. The school offers job training to young people from 12 to 18 years to prepare them for employment or further education in the MBO.
Over a course of five years, students are trained for positions in Care and Welfare, Engineering, and Plant and Animal Services. Besides the practical, much attention is given to individual coaching. The development of self esteem and addressing young people’s own responsibility are central. Besides the regular procedure, it is possible for some students, after a preparatory year called Pro Plus Class, for them to transfer to the VMBO.
Princess Maxima also took a look at the cooking course. “You learn more through cooking, such as quantities and ingredients. Do you know all about the fruit and vegetables that you eat now?” she asked the students.
