Countess Alexandra Opens New Set

Countess Alexandra, as patron of Børnekulturhuset Fyrtøjet, opened its new set at the Children’s Culture House on Saturday. The 18th set design, this one has been inspired by the humourous fairytale about Block Hans.

She arrived at 12:15 and was officially greeted by Mayor Jan Boye and Fyrtøjet’s Chairman Conny Stolberg-Rohr. She inaugurated the new set at 2:00, after the telling of the story of Block Hans. The event was prolonged until 2:45, instead of 2:30, as the Countess spent longer than expected meeting and greeting.

“The best bouquet I have ever been given”

The opening of the new set on a Saturday proved to be a resounding success, with many attendees. But, with so many participants, it was hard to pick a flower girl or boy, so the management came up with a different idea; each of the two hundred childen gave Alexandra one flower stalk, which she could then gather up into a big bouquet when she went home. Alexandra was evidently touched by the idea, declaring it to be “the best bouquet I have ever been given.”

Børnekulturhuset Fyrtøjet

Børnekulturhuset Fyrtøjet is one of Alexandra’s remaining fourteen patronages, and is described as “a place where children and adults can meet H.C. Andersen’s fairytale and empathise with them. As a visitor you are able to participate by finding treasures, play-acting, playing, dreaming, being dressed and made up, and drawing and painting at the house’s own professional studio.“
