The Fashion of the Danish New Year’s Court 2011
On January 1, HM Queen Margrethe, TRH Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended the New Year’s Court and Banquet for members of the Order of the Elephant at Amalienborg. With the absence of Crown Princess Mary due to her maternity leave, all eyes were on Queen Margrethe and Princess Marie this year.
The Queen recycled the lime green dress which she had worn to her birthday celebrations last April and also when she attended Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden’s wedding in June. To this dramatic dress by Danish designer Birgitte Thaulow, she added a grand silver-gray fur stole and looked every inch the Queen with her Emerald Parure.
Princess Marie arrived in a gorgeous dove gray gown with an asymmetrical neckline and completed this look with a golden clutch and a dark brown fur stole. As usual, she wore the Diamond Floral Tiara that had been wonderfully arranged in her hairdo. Also spotted was a new pair of earrings, most likely cabachon emeralds.
