The Fashion of the Nobel Prize Award 2010

Fashion-wise it is one of, if not the, highlights in the calendar of the Swedish Royal Family – the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Stockholm.

The Queen chose an exclusive emerald green gown with a train, layered skirt and bolero. She added a matching pair of green satin pumps to the dress and the regal appearance was completed by the Leuchtenberg sapphire parure.

The Crown Princess chose a long beige silk dress with embroidered details. The delicate dress with empire waist has an open back and was designed by Elie Saab. The Princess was also wearing the Napoleonic cut steel tiara, a pair of drop pearl earrings, a diamond necklace, a diamond bracelet and a three stand pearl bracelet. Silk pumps with a sparkling buckle, in the same beige tone as the dress, by Roger Vivier finsished the look.

11th December 2010 – Dinner for the Nobel Laureates:

A pale yellow silk satin gown with a gold embroidered lace overlay by Jacques Zehnder, was Queen Silvia’s choice for the dinner a day after the Nobel Prize awarding. As to the jewellery, the Queen was wearing the nine-prongs-tiara, a riviere and diamond earrings from King Karl XIV Johan’s collection.

Once more Victoria chose a dress by Elie Saab who has become one of her favorite designers of late. The draped azure blue gown from the Elie Saab Fall 2009 collection, has been altered a bit, probably to let the sash better flow into the appearence. Surprisingly, the Princess didn’t wear a tiara, but the Queen Josephine’s pearl and ruby brooch in her hair, to which she added Queen Victoria’s sapphire, pearl and diamond necklace and pearl poiré earrings.
