Prince Carlos Xavier of Bourbon-Parma, titular Duke of Parma and Piacenza, and Annemarie Gualthérie van Weezel got married today in a religious ceremony, which took place in Bruxelles at the Abbey of La Cambre.

Carlos and Annemarie, now styled HRH the Duchess of Parma and Piacenza, married in a civil ceremony in Wijk bij Duurstede (The Netherlands) on 12 June; their religious marriage was set to take place on 28 August 2010, but it has been postponed to today due to the death of Carlos’ father, Duke Carlos Hugo, ten days before the wedding date.

The ceremony started at 2pm, celebrated by the former Bishop of Rotterdam, Philippe Bär; the groom arrived at the Abbey accompanied by his mother, Princess Irene of the Netherlands, followed by the beautiful bride – dressed by Jacques Devos and Pamela Hoffman and wearing a diamond and pearl tiara belonging to the Dutch Royal Family – accompanied by her father, Hans Gualthérie van Weezel. Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands was Carlos’ best man.

All the Duke’s maternal relatives attended the ceremony: his mother, Princess Irene, his aunts, Queen Beatrix and Princesses Margriet and Christina, his uncle, Margriet’s husband Pieter van Vollenhoven, and his cousins with their spouses or partners: Princes Willem Alexander, Maxima, Constantin, Laurentien, Friso, Mabel, Maurits, Marilene, Bernhard, Annette, Pieter-Christian, Anita, Floris and Aimée, Bernardo, Eva, Nicolas and Juliana Guillermo and Nicolas’ girlfriend.

On the contrary, only some of the closest Bourbon-Parma relatives were there: Duke Carlos’ siblings Jaime, Margarita (pregnant with her second child) and Carolina, Margarita’s husband Tjalling Ten Cate, Jaime’s girlfriend Paulette von Ommen, and his aunts Princesses Marie-Therese, Cecile and Marie-des-Neiges.

The only other royals present at the wedding – or at least the only pictured by medias – were Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Prince Jean and Princess Diane of Luxembourg, who also are Duke Carlos’ second cousins, and the Duke of Bragança.
