Prince William Visits Afghanistan for Remembrance Sunday
Britain’s Prince William made a surprise trip to Afghanistan on November 14th, to mark Remembrance Sunday with British troops serving in the war torn country. He arrived with several military leaders including Minister of Defense, Liam Fox.
William attended a service at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, where he also laid a poppy wreath at a memorial.
He then met with the troops, some of whom the Prince trained with recently when he was studying to be a helicopter pilot.
This was Prince William’s second secret trip to Afghanistan. In 2008, he spent a few hours in Kandahar. He has expressed a deep interest in serving in Afghanistan as a helicopter pilot.
His brother, Prince Harry, fought in Helmand Province in late 2007 into early 2008 until some media outlets exposed his service.
