Round Up of Queen Elizabeth II & The Duke of Edinburgh’s Events, October 28-November 5
October 28, 2010, after seeing the Emir of Qatar and his wife off after the official state visit, HM was straight back to work visiting Essex.
November 2 saw the Queen receive the High Commissioner for Tanzania, Peter Kallaghe, and the Ambassador of Brazil, Roberto Jaguaribe, at Buckingham Palace, London (see picture).
November 3 saw Queen Elizabeth at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, London. Among the invested were Barbara Knox, otherwise known as Rita from Coronation Street.
November 5, 2010 saw HM visit the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal at the Royal Navy dockyard in Portsmouth. The aircraft carrier, which is in its 25th year, is to be taken out of service imminently in the wake of the defence review cuts announced last month.
While HM was busy having her picture taken at some wonderful events Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh was attending events out of the limelight:
October 28th saw The Duke of Edinburgh open Lakeside Energy from Waste Ltd’s new facility at Colnbrook, Slough, Berkshire.
October 29th saw The Duke of Edinburgh up in Edinburgh opening the Clinical Research Imaging Centre. He also visited the Centre for Systems Biology and the James Clerk Maxwell Building’s Leisure and Teaching Cluster at the University of Edinburgh.
On November 1st The Duke of Edinburgh, as President Emeritius of the World Wide Fund for Nature – International, presented the 2010 Duke of Edinburgh Conservation Medal at Windsor Castle.
November 2nd saw The Duke of Edinburgh, as Patron of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, present the Gold Awards at St. James’s Palace.
The following day, November 3rd, The Duke of Edinburgh attended a lunch to mark the 200th Anniversary of the Cavalry and Guards Club at the Cavalry and Guards Club, London. The Duke is an Honorary Member of the Cavalry and Guards Club. Then, in the evening, as Patron of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, he held a Dinner at Buckingham Palace.
And finally, on November 5th, The Duke of Edinburgh as Master of The Corporation of Trinity House attended the Civic Lunch at the Mansion House, London. Then he went onto the University of Cambridge, to hold a Reception at Windsor Castle.
