Princess Haya to run for Second FEI Presidency Term
It is not going to be an easy competition for Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, when she runs again for a second term as President of the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI).
Princess Haya will be running against Henk Rottinghuis of the Netherlands and Sven Holmberg from Sweden for the position when the election will take place during the FEI General Assembly in Taipei on Friday, November 5, 2010. Princess Haya has been a controversial figure during her four-year first term as president of the FEI. The 36-year-old Princess can only serve one more term under current FEI rules, each term served is 4 years.
“It has been a great privilege to serve as President of the FEI for the past four years, and I would be honoured to have the opportunity to consolidate the gains and the progress we have made in a second and final term,” says Princess Haya.
