Sitting in the traditional royal gallery, the couple watched on as Swiss tennis champion Roger Federer defeated German Florian Mayer. The match lasted only sixty-three minutes, Federer taking out his 64th ATP-level career title in straight sets; 6-4, 6-3. He is now tied with American Pete Sampras in fourth place in number of overall ATP-level titles.

Crown Princess Victoria descended upon the court for the presentation ceremony, where she presented Federer with the Open’s large silver globe trophy. In his acceptance speech, Federer thanked Victoria for attending the event and offered his congratulations to her and Daniel on their wedding. “I must give my thanks to Victoria who came here today. It always means extra when royalty is in place. Congratulations on your wedding too. And congratulations to Daniel too,” Federer said acknowledging the Prince sitting in the stands.
