Princess Caroline visits Palazzo Vecchio

In the past week, Princess Caroline of Monaco paid a visit to the Palazzo Vecchio in the city of Florence, the capital of the Florentine province of Tuscany, Italy. The tour of the Palazzo Vecchio included the Uffizi Gallery and the Boboli Garden.

Wearing her trademark sunglasses and pashmina scarf for her tour of the palace, the Princess showed that she was an impassioned student of culture. The Princess, according to the webzine of Pure People, displayed great pleasure and delight in conversation with Dr. Cristina Acidini, who is one of the world’s leading experts on Renaissance architecture and art. By day, Her Royal Highness (still retaining the status of her estranged husband, Prinz Ernst August V von Hannover) was a student of art in the mecca of its fifteenth-century rebirth!

In the evening, she attended the black-tie Ballo del Giglio at the Palazzo Vecchio. The Princess removed her reading glasses (so useful for reading the details of the art in the museum) and put on an elegant A-line dress, all black, and bejeweled at the V-neck and waistline. No doubt the theme was Florentine art. The Princess’s eyes were too often directed to and enraptured by the the battle scenes of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, which decorate the Salone dei Cinquecento of the Palazzo Vecchio. There was dinner, there was dancing, there was champagne! Above all, there was A.M.A.D.E. – Association Mondiale des Amis de l’Enfance (World Association of Children’s Friends) to benefit from the funds raised by the ball.
