State Visit from Russia
On Monday the President of Russia Medvedev and his wife paid a State Visit to Norway.
The couple was formally welcomed during a ceremony on the Palace Square. The Queen and the Crown princely couple were present during the ceremony when the King and the President inspected the King’s Guard and greeted Norwegian officials.
After the welcoming ceremony President Medvedev visited the Storting, the Norwegian Parliament, and met the President of the Storting, Dag Terje Andersen.
The Presidential couple was having luch with the Royal Couple, the Crown Princely couple and Princess Astrid at the Royal palace.
After having luch the King and President Medvedev laid a wreath at the monument in memory of the Norwegians who died during the Second War World. This is tradition during State Visits to Norway.
The same time Queen Sonja and Mrs. Svetlana Medvedeva were on a guided walk through the Vigeland Park and payed a visit to the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design.
The President and his wife also joined the Royal couple to an exhibition about Soviet prisoners of war at the Norwegian Armed Forces Museum.
In the evening evening a gala banquet was hosted in honour of President Medvedev and Mrs. Medvedeva.
