The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh Make University Visit
HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh carried out a royal engagement at the Brentford Campus of Thames Valley University in Hounslow on February 20. The pair was on hand to open a new teaching facility for the university, which is renowned for its music programs and counts famous artists like Freddie Mercury, Pete Townshend, and Jay Kay among its alumni. The new facility will house, among other programs, a new teaching area for nursing students.
The event was the first that the royal couple had attended together since The Duke’s carriage-driving accident earlier this year. The Duke has since carried out royal engagements on his own.
Reports from the opening suggest that The Duke continues to recover well from his back injury, noting that he climbed two staircases with minimal difficulty while visiting the campus.
