Count Ingolf & Countess Sussie Celebrate Milestone Birthdays

Danish Count Ingolf and Countess Sussie of Rosenborg recently celebrated two milestone birthdays – their respective 70th and 60th – in a joint party.

The “130th” birthday party was held at the Munkebjerg Hotel in Vejle, and amongst the guests were Ingolf’s elder sister Princess Elisabeth and younger brother Count Christian. Count Christian’s wife Anne-Dorthe was also present, as well as the couple’s daughter Countess Feodora.

Countess Sussie spoke with Billed Bladet, saying that she still thinks it is strange to be sixty years old, but Count Ingolf had “given me a gift certificate for a kayak, so that helps a little.”

Princess Elisabeth was briefly hospitalised the day after the birthday, as a precaution after feeling a little unwell. It was reported that the birthday party lasted until the early hours of the morning, the Princess being one of the last remaining guests.

Count Ingolf (His Excellency Count Ingolf Christian Frederik Knud Harald Gorm Gustav Viggo Valdemar Aage of Roseborg) was born on February 17th, 1940 at the Sorgenfri Palace to the-then Hereditary Prince Knud of Denmark and his wife Princess Caroline-Mathilde. In January 1968, Ingolf married for the first time to Inge Terney, and subsequently lost his place in the line of succession to the Danish throne. Following Inge’s death in 1996, Ingolf married for a second time in March 1998 to Sussie Hjorhøy (born February 20th, 1950). The Count has no children, and according to Salic law is the rightful heir to the Danish throne.
