Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan attended the Middle East Gala on Sunday evening at Vienna’s City Hall.
The gala is dedicated to the Trilateral Centre for European Studies, a cooperative by private Israeli university Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, Palestinian Al-Quds University in East Jerusalem and the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) in Amman. The Centre offers Palestinian, Israeli and Jordanian students the opportunity to study the institutions and history of European Union during one year at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf (Germany).
Prince Hassan spoke at the gala hosted by Dr. Michael Häupl, Mayor and Governor of Vienna, and during his keynote speech,
“To Live in Peace, Harmony and Counterpoint”, His Highness emphasized the importance of creating a framework upon which “we can cultivate inter-religious and intercultural dialogue that explores the complementarities and differences between the Orient and the Occident”.
The “Europe is building bridges in the Middle East” ceremony was attended by 400 guests, including the wife of Prince Hassan of Jordan, Princess Sarvath, and their daughter and the President of the Royal Scientific Society, Princess Sumaya.
