Princess Letizia presents the “Stela Poject” Awards
Yesterday, the Princess of Asturias attended the presentation of the “Stela Project” Awards in its 14th edition in Madrid. The Stela Project is an initiative created in 1995 and promoted by the Down Syndrome Foundation of Madrid, whose aim is to facilitate the incorporation to a normal environment of work to persons with Down Syndrome or an intellectual disability. It’s addressed to companies that bet for the full integration of this kind of persons that are prepared to develop a productive activity.
At the beginning of the project, 6 people with Down Syndrome were incorporated to different companies. Nowadays, 80 people between 18 and 35 years old are working in different jobs, and almost 150 companies are involved in the Project.
The Stela Awards honours companies that throughout the year have been outstanding for their integration policy. The companies awarded this year were Monereo Meyer & Marinelo, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Fundación Syndrome de Down, Panda Security, Isdefe, Maxam, Sociedad Publica de Alquiler and Inforpress.
Princess Letizia congratulated in her speech to those companies for its commitment to keep its integration policy in the difficult moments of economic crisis.
