Prince William is a “Redneck,” Says Pink
U.S. pop singer, Pink, is publicly badmouthing Britain’s Prince William for his stance on hunting animals. She recently told music bible, Q magazine, that she wrote the second in line to the throne a letter criticising him for the blood-sport.
To her surprise, William responded.
“I wrote to him to protest about fox hunting and I figured he would be this stuffy, privileged a**hole. But he’s like a red-neck from the south,” Pink said.
“If you’re brought up shooting and hunting animals, if you really think it’s second nature and you’re blasting away then it’s hard to see the other point of view. You need educating.”
The singer’s letter to the Prince was in response to his request that she perform for his 21st birthday back in 2003. Pink refused and instead wrote to William demanding to know why he hunts foxes.
It is not known when exactly Prince William finally responded to the singer or what he actually said.
Pink, who is a member of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), also wrote to William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, asking her to get rid of the bearskins worn by palace guards and replace them with fake fur, designed by Stella McCartney. The Queen has yet to answer Pink’s request.
“To be truthful I was really surprised I didn’t get a reply to that one. I wasn’t just writing in and complaining, and it certainly was not a publicity stunt,” said Pink.
“I actually proposed a plan. Stella McCartney had designed these replacement hats for the guards using fake fur. I felt we were solving the problem for her and offering a viable solution. But she never wrote back. Maybe she doesn’t have any of my stuff on her iPod.”
