Danish State Visit to Norway: May 14 - 15, 2024

I saw the video from the Dutch state visit and the seating was indeed the same. I guess it is just how it is done in Norway, unlike in the more familiar British custom where the visiting Head of State would be seated next to the host. There is also a third option of having the Heads of State...

Danish State Visit to Norway: May 14 - 15, 2024

The state banquet was nice, but the seating plan was odd. Why wasn't King Frederik X seated next to the King Harald V as one would expect? Also King Frederik and Queen Mary should not have been seated next to each other, but rather on opposite sides of the table, for example respectively to...

Sofia would have in practice to convert to Lutheranism (as Prince Henrik did). That could be a problem.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Family, News and Events 9: August 2023 -

I agree it is deeply bizarre for 2 private individuals who are no longer working royals to go on a pretend royal tour. I would understand if Harry was in Nigeria to participate in Invictus-related events only (as he is, at least figuratively, still associated with Invictus) , but the rest of the...

What else could he (or rather, his spokesperson) have said? That he was offended for being snubbed? Saying that he understands that his father was busy and that he hopes to meet him some other time is merely diplomatic language.

Maybe Frederik and Mary will run a consistently more frugal court than Daisy did.

Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant News and Events 2, Feb 2024 -

The Belgian posters are better equipped to answer your question, but it seems to me that the point of view may be a little bit different in Belgium than in countries like Spain. Belgium is a small country with a very international outlook. Doing your university studies abroad is not something...

Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant News and Events 2, Feb 2024 -

I am surprised, however, that it is not an issue in Belgium that Princess Elisabeth never attended a French-speaking school throughout her academic life. She went to a Dutch-speaking school in Belgium, then did her IB in English in Wales, used Dutch again as the language of instruction at the...

    Bowing and Curtseying

Yes, my point was that they are supposed to genuflect , but many people don’t really go as low as genuflecting and only “ curtsy” really.

Danish State Visit to Sweden: May 6 - 7, 2024

King Frederik X did well in his speech. I feel like it was a bit awkward for both kings to adjust fully to Frederik's new position, which is not unexpected given their family dynamics and age difference, but it turned out to be easier than I had anticipated.

Crown Princess Victoria Jewels 4: Jun 2023 -

A quite high number of curtsies tonight in Sweden. Is it because it is a state visit from Denmark?

Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

I am not disappointed because her ruby set is nicer in my humble opinion than the Pearl Poire parure, even though Queen Mary is not wearing the full set tonight. We should not forget either that Queen Ingrid wore the rubies frequently as queen consort, so it is not really a downgrade.

I haven't had time to see any images yet. Did CP Victoria curtsy to the new King and Queen of Denmark? It looks a little bit cold though for a spring day.

    Bowing and Curtseying

Do Protestants bow towards the altar? Apparently Anglicans do, as I have seen members of the British Royal Family do it many times, but for Calvinists like the Dutch Royal Family, I suppose that would be unusual. Calvinist churches don't even have an "altar" strictly speaking and, in any case...
