I thought "pacifier" was standard here (the US), but every child I meet seems to have a different name for it. It's getting hard to keep track! ; )
I'm not sure exactly what kind of English the translator was going for, to be honest- while reading the book, I sometimes wondered if it had been done with Google...
I read the book again now on Christmas. Victoria tells at the book that the fairytales she loved most as a child were the stories about queen Silvia's ape Micki. And Victoria has told them again to Daniel's nieces, and they love them too.
