I am so sorry to hear your news. Best wishes to you and your family at this very difficult time. I hope that doing these lists helps you in some way.

We have no idea how long but more likely a few weeks at most. Once he does leave us and I have done whatever I need to do to assist my sister-in-law and her children (if they need my help at all) I will get back to this in full and hopefully catch up, during the very slow month of August when most days have no engagements.

It was doing this that helped me deal with the death of my father and I am sure it will help again as I lose my only sibling.

An update - my brother passed away in the early hours of this morning. He is now at peace and no longer suffering - from the first signs something was wrong it has been less than 7 months. There was absolutely no sign of anything until he had two incidents of disorientation on the 19th December last year and even when he had the surgery on the 23rd there was no suggestion of cancer. Three weeks later he was given the news - grade 4 brain cancer and he had radiotherapy and chemo but it was too late for any success and now he has gone. Please give me a couple of weeks to adjust to the fact he it gone and then I will get back to doing this weekly.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My aunt died of brain cancer 9 months after the first signs that something was wrong - it's a terrible shock how quickly it happens. Take care.

Weekly Update to 23rd June, 2024​

Now that we have buried my brother and my nieces and I have packed up his clothes etc while his wife has gone to QLD to have some physical healing time with her siblings (the adjusting to life without her husband of over 42 years will take longer but as she has been nursing him for seven months it was felt best for her to have some time in the sun) I can get back to this. Luckily August is the slowest month normally so have time to catch up. I do aim to be up to date by the end of next week but that assumes nothing else comes up.

Thank you for your condolence sentiments and understanding. I love doing this but life sometimes gets in the way.

An update - my brother passed away in the early hours of this morning. He is now at peace and no longer suffering - from the first signs something was wrong it has been less than 7 months. There was absolutely no sign of anything until he had two incidents of disorientation on the 19th December last year and even when he had the surgery on the 23rd there was no suggestion of cancer. Three weeks later he was given the news - grade 4 brain cancer and he had radiotherapy and chemo but it was too late for any success and now he has gone. Please give me a couple of weeks to adjust to the fact he it gone and then I will get back to doing this weekly.

Sorry I am taking so long to get this back up to date. It seems that every day something else is going wrong in my life e.g. last week I had overflowing sewerage in my backyard so had a plumber check things out and then turned out I needed the Water Board who have been in and out for the rest of the week (even had sewerage get into my swimming pool so Water Board had to drain the pool and refill it).
 
Surely Princess Alexandra has now retired/should now be considered to be retired? She is no more active than the Duchess of Kent in recent years, which is understandable due to age. I believe she is now in a wheelchair?

She is still regarded as a 'working royal' by the family. There has been no statement that she has retired from public duties - unlike with the Duchess of Kent as well as Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Only when there is such an announcement will I stop including her as a 'working royal'.

Sorry I am so far behind but I am determined to get there. If you have ever suffered from depression you will know how debilitating it can be and my doctors have been concerned with the way I am not coping with my brother's death. He was my only sibling so it was the end of 'my family' as in the family into which I was born - Mum, Dad and brother and I am simply having days when I simply don't want to do anything.

I will get there and I have a target to get back up to date so please bare with me.

I have experienced it myself. Focus on yourself and your healing and do this work when it feels good and you want to. We’ll be here when you’re ready.

Starting this was a way of getting through the depression after my father's death and I know it will help with my brother's as well.
 
Warmer weather will soon be here in Australia and I know I feel better when there is warmth and sunshine. Just go easy on yourself. The death of loved ones is always very difficult.
