As we're about to step into Harald's 70th birthday celebrations - I looked for the 60th birthday celebrations, but I couldn't find a thread. Now there is one 
The celebrations took place in Trondheim, in summer 1997 - with many of the European royals also in place. It was also the year of Trondheim's 1000th anniversary.
My memories tied in to this is standing directly across the street from the little "balcony" at Stiftsgården as the royals came out on it - and the fireworks that capped the whole event.
