I hope they will have a chance to meet lots of the very hospitable emirates and omanis. I just returned from there and the generosity and hospitality was overwhelming.

Princess Máxima without any make-up.. we don't see that often.

Do the Gulf royals give gifts of jewellery to visiting Dutch royals the same way they do to members of the British royals when they are in the Gulf?

fairy tale said:
That's Her Excellency Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State. :flowers:

Thnx !! Nice pics btw !!!:)

Oh Maxima...I love the orange color of her jacket, but the pants :bang:
Oh my!
I am surprised. Maxima is usually very well and appropriately dressed but to wear such tight pants and short jacket is not respectful to the host.

It was merely a technical arrival at the Presidents Flight section of AD airport, nothing special except that it was acknowledged they arrived. That's all. They went to the Emirates Palace hotel immediatly after without seeing any of the Rulers family. So no,no offence.

The visit starts today so I don't see why it would be offensive that nobody showed up from the ruling family to meet them.

A longer jacket would have been much more suitable. Emirates are very observant on how western women dress and if asked, very forthcoming on what is respectful of their customs.

Do the Gulf royals give gifts of jewellery to visiting Dutch royals the same way they do to members of the British royals when they are in the Gulf?

I noticed in some of the photos from the meeting with the president of the UAE that Queen Beatrix received what appears to be an impressive diamond and gold necklace.

EDIT: After looking at a WAM photo of the gift presentation, I'm now wondering if the necklace is really the chain for a national order (I don't think their national order has a sash and badge like they do in many European countries).

The gold necklace seen in the pictures is the highest civil decorations given to kings and heads of state. The necklace/decoration is like a sash since sashes aren't given by the UAE.
