Why will not WA and Maxima accompany to the Queen?

As a rule,TRH never do if the State Visit is within Europe,(with the exception of Belgium,Luxembourg as was the case a while ago-).TRH do accompany HM on "Intercontinental" State Visits.

But what often is the case is that both TRH already have payed official visits to these countries before a State Visit takes place, not as a rule, but that just happened to be the case several times, including the Baltic countries.

HM was invited for the State Visit by HE President Valdas Adamkus (who underwent heart-surgery last week btw...) and will be the guest of President Adamkus and Mrs.Alma Adamkiëne.

The visit will mainly focus on the capital Vilnius and the former capitals Trakai and Kaunas.HM will lay a wreath at the Monument for those who Fell in the war of Independance,at the Antakalnis cemetary.

HM will visit the Vilnius Art Academy and visit/meet/discuss with students at the University of Vilnius on the future of Lithuania.

Finally a new gala dress for HM. Not too nice IMO, but it fits the style of Sheila de Vries / HM lately: Eastern fabrics and monumental/ statuesque. Nice to see that HM put on a lot of jewels, and also nice to see the button tiara in that form again (don't like th base with the stars).

Nice picture of HM's jewels here.

I saw that indeed but I don't think it is the same dress, the would have taken the original dres from the 80-ties, add a top in the same colour, put new grey stripes over it and probably enlarge the weist too... Seems a rather diffivult procedure and the lower stripe on the dress loks different too.

HM told the press that she was happy with the debate about more clarity of the royal finances, as she wanted that for a very long time (more clarity, not a debate).

Lots of nice details on royalblog indeed. Apparently HM commented on the little attention that some foreign guests received in our own country, she called it sometimes embarrasing and undeserved as most of these people are very interesting. The queen did receive a lot of media attention in Lithuania.

Another thing is that the Loeki Stardust Quartet for the contra-presentation was a big succes. And that there were never so little cancellations for a contra-presentation given by HM as this time. The quartet played a Lithuanian hymn at the end, to the surprise of the guests, who were delighted with it. Now I still remember the Loeki Stardust Quartet from HM's 60th birthday celebration. I think I saw several royal guests fall alsleep when they were playing at palace 't Loo in Apeldoorn.
