But isn't it too risky to give birth at home for a first-time mother over 35?

True but these are extra-ordinary times and circumstances. As amarylllus pointed out Stephanie is healthy and has undoubtedly been receiving first-rate prenatal care and monitoring.

If she opts to give birth at the castle, I am sure there will be an ambulance on standby in the event an emergency requires that she and/or her newborn need to be hospitalized.

She is seemingly healthy and presumably the pregnancy/Baby is healthy. The the best doctors and medical care available will come to her where she gives birth. Not as if she has to call the village midwife after all.

And if there are Problems so that a caesarian section is needed they could still bring her to the next hospital, but don't know how far from Fischbach Castle the next is.

Under the circumstances, will the priest come to the castle to baptize the baby? Or will the baptism be delayed?

the parents or anyone can baptise a baby..

:previous:
The baptism should be only after the summer, by that time the pandemic must have passed or the situation should be calmer. They can always baptize the baby in one of the family palaces and only with the closest family members.

If the infant is born very ill or frail, he or she can be baptized immediately.

But in the Lux Grand Ducal family baptisms usually take place within 8 weeks of birth. I cannot see the exceptionally devout Nassau's delaying the baby's baptism indefinitely. As another poster suggested, it will probably take place over the summer.

The priest can come to the private Chapel of any of their residences and get it done quietly and simply.

There is a small Church in the village in which Fischbach is loacated. I think this one was also used for the baptisms of Princess Alexandra and Princess Sebastien as well as for the first communions of Guillaume and his siblings. So probably the will use this Church for the christeing.

I would have loved in this depressing period to see a recent pic of the couple. It would have cheered a lot of people I think !

First pregnancy after over 7 years of marriage and endless tabloid gossip and speculation. Mother is dead. Sisters are in another country and much older.

Birth of the heir is only weeks away while Europe and Luxembourg are in the middle of it's worst crisis since WWII.

It would not surprise me a bit if she was a nervous wreck right now.:ermm:

I wonder if it's in the beginning of May. The last time we saw Stephanie, she looked quite far in her pregnancy. So, I'm crossing fingers for a late April/early May birth :flowers:

I understand that the birth is for the end of May.
The pregnancy was announced in the beginning of December 2019.

Really weird times we're living in.
I think she must be nervous and anxious about everything that's going on.
She must be concerned because of her own health and the baby and also because of the health of her older siblings.
I hope she's as calm enough at this stage of her pregnancy.

I do hope Baby Lux is on time this month. I can't wait for some happy Royal news.

It feels like it's been a VERY long time since we've had any.:ermm:

And it's probably at most four weeks away!

I'm also wishing to hear from this baby. We urgently need positive news from royalty!
The baby should be born this month almost certainly.

First babies can be late, and if she is due towards end of the month it could be a June baby. The problem with not knowing at least a general idea of when she is due (in sense of early, mid or late) is that we have no sense. Baby could be due tomorrow or could be due in 30 days.

But it will definitely be wonderful news during all of this. Still waiting on a photo and name for the other major Covid royal baby, Little Prince of Bhutan.

:previous: I completely forgot that we don't know his name yet!

I have wondered if the Grand Ducal Court did not release Stephanie's exact due date in order to discourage paps from prowling around Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity as the big day approaches...the idea for Gui and Steph to slip in and out with the baby before anyone is the wiser. The Court does not seem to have the tradition of announcing when princesses go into labor.

So we will not hear anything until it's all over, probably.

Isn't that common habit among European royal families that they don't release due date of baby? That way tons of people then are not going wait front of hospital waiting news.

:previous: For each of the Cambridge children there were cameras outside of St Mary's hospital for days and weeks before their births. I don't remember exactly but for each of Kate's pregnancies an approximate time of "late April" or " late July" ( for George) was made public.

The same for Meghan...but since no one knew where she would give birth it was not an issue.

Guillaume and Stephanie are not as well known a Royal couple of course, but I can imagine that there is excitement building in the Grand Duchy now that the long awaited heir is on the way soon.

I have read here that the child is due late in the month, but I only remember that the official announcement was for the month of May.

I think you can't compare the Media/preiss Interese in this upcoming birth with the birth of the Cambridge children. As far as i remember there wasn't Press camping for days before the Righospitale in Copenhagen or the Hopstitals in which the then Princess of Asturias or then princess maxima where to give birth.

:previous: But did I not say exactly that in my comments?

Global media interest or not, this birth will receive a great deal of coverage in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at least.

Royals only usually give approximate dates. Babies don't always come on their due dates, especially first babies, and they won't want a load of press speculation and hassle if they said that the baby was due on May 1st and then he/she didn't arrive until a fortnight later.

Everyone's keen to hear good news, especially at the moment. I'm sure the birth of an heir will receive a lot of attention :) .

The baby is almost here. Curious if the baby is due around the begining of May or at the end of May. Either way, it's soon!!! Can't wait!!! :D

I really regret that, due to this awful virus, we didn't get to see Stéphanie now. It would be heartwarming to see her after the long wait they had to endure.

I think our last look at her was in early March. She was in her 6 or 7th month and already looked quite big, imo.

I can imagine that now that she is approaching her due date, she is pretty uncomfortable.

She is likely uncomfortable but this can all depend on how she is carrying. I’m guessing the baby has dropped by now which happens in the last month for first timers.

Dear Stefan, you made me look up my scrap book on Crown Princess Mary who gave birth to her first child on 15 th october 2005. The article says Mary slipped past waiting media at Fredensborg to go to the hospital, and she was two weeks early from her due date. More than 100 photographers, and TV crews hung around for three days for the new mum and baby to emerge inside the hospital. I remember it very well as it was a big deal for an heir to the throne.

The birth of an heir is always a big deal to me and I wish Stephanie a safe delivery.
