Rita Hayworth married Muslim Prince Aly Khan and the wedding caused a scandal: the Vatican excommunicated her and many boycotted her films. In this period Rita decided to leave Hollywood to devote herself to her family.

Rita Hayworth was buried as a Catholic, laid to rest in a Catholic cemetery.

So at some point she must have been reconciled to the Church.
