Swedish Count Carl Piper has died from Alzheimer related causes aged 79. Born a few months after the death of his father Count Carl Erik Piper he inherited the large Högestad & Christinehof entailed estate at birth and became one of the largest landowners. The entail which covered 32124 acres at the time of Carl's death contains four large manor houses (castles according to the Scandinavian definition), several nature reserves and wetlands restored by the count for whom caring for the environment grew to become one of his largest passions. After quite a prominent domestic career as a race car driver he became known as "the Red Count" after joining the Social Democratic Party and enforcing a progressive for the time working environment policy on his properties. The entail was turned into a "fideikommissaktiebolag" in 1999 with Carl Piper retaining 100% of the shares until his death.
Count Carl Piper is survived by his son Fredric and daughter Anna and their families.

Count Hans Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister has died aged 100.

Count Hans Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister has died aged 100 in his home at Trolle-Ljungby castle.
The Count was the son of Count Carl-Axel Trolle-Wachtmeister & noblewoman Hilla-Britta Trolle and was through them descended from and related to many of Sweden's most ancient and prominent noble houses. After his father's death in 1956 Hans Gabriel became the proprietor of the family entail centered around Sweden's largest agricultural estate Trolle-Ljungby and it's historic castle with the same name.
In 1949 he married noblewoman Alice Tornerhjelm who later was appointed First Lady of the Court and then Mistress of the Robes. The latter a position that she held until retiring in 2015.
The Count became publicly known in his later years for his years long fight with his tenant farmers, a fight that eventually reached the Supreme Court, and his decision to kick out his great-nephew and heir, Count Trolle-Wachtmeister, from the estate and replacing him with Baron von Blixen-Finecke, his half-brother's son and husband of the current Mistress of the Robes Kirstine von Blixen-Finecke.
The Count's death will most likely mean that the 255 years old Trolle-Ljungby entail is abolished.
