The Princess of Wales Jewels 1: September 2022 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I think too much credit is being given in her lack luster dresses and tiaras in 'not wanting to out shine the bride'.

Kate has a style that has become an uniform of hers from day one. Both the dresses she chose, and the tiara she wore, were totally expected. They are her comfort zone. Kate is not one to stray far from the zone.

Nothing ‘lackluster’ about that dazzling pink evening gown!

I would imagine that tiaras which Camilla has not yet worn- but may wish to in the future- will not go into the tiara ‘pool’ for others to borrow.

Camilla has always gone for fairly large tiaras- there's the Greville Honeycomb that she usually wears, and she's worn the Delhi Durbar and the Belgian Sapphire too. Therefore I can't see her wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara in the future- I could be wrong, but I feel like she'll loan that one to Catherine eventually.

I think so too; I think Catherine would look great in it, and Camilla in the Vladimir pearl/emerald tiara.

The Princess of Wales may suit Queen Alexandra's fringe tiara.

I hope the next wearer of the Queen Alexandra Kokoshnik is Queen Camilla.

I’m in agreement with those who’ve said that the Princess should be widening her selection of tiaras . Yes, we’ve seen the Lotus relatively recently, but with so few tiara appearances, and several wonderful tiaras now available, the Lover’s Knot needs a spell back in the vaults. In fairness, the Queen was also rarely seen in anything other than the Boucheron when she was a Duchess. I’d be interested to know what people here think is the reason for the apparent reluctance of senior royal ladies to widen their tiara choices whereas with other items of jewellery,, such as necklaces and earrings, we are already seeing the ‘rebirth’ of major, important pieces.

I think it would be good to see the Princess of Wales use the Sapphire bandeau, it hasn't been seen in about 50 years. Catherine could pair it with a lot of the lovely sapphire and diamond jewellery in the vaults, including the Dubai sapphires. She has already used the earrings from the Dubai sapphire demi-parure.

Simply wonderful to see it being worn again :previous:

Sadly, Catherine has lost one of the diamonds in the cap of her left earring. See HERE

Can you explain as I can’t tell what you mean from the photo. I’ve looked at other pics and all seems to be okay. Surely some keen eyed reporter would have commented if there were any stones missing from such notable earrings.

If you look at this photo, you'll see a noticeable gap in the setting right next to the GettyImages watermark. That's a missing diamond. It's there in all photos from the Garter ceremony, so it can't have been shadow or reflection form the sun. It's also not part of the design, because the other earring doesn't have that.

:previous: seems you are right, there's an empty hole.

:previous: Ouch! Old diamonds are not that easy to replace. One wonders if the jewels have all had a "physical" to ensure that all stones are set, links are tight and clasps are firm.

I noticed those earrings and was thinking we had seen them before :previous:

I agree, and also more suited to a different occasion.

Totally inappropriate.

I'm not terribly keen on them either but they
belonged to the late Queen, worn by her in 2003, so the provenance is impeccable.

Yes, I just read about the late Queen wearing them to a Heads of Commonwealth Dinner which was way more fitting.

These are too big to be worn as earrings. Better repurpose them as a pair of clip brooches.

Suggestions online are they are either part of a set, or petals from, that awful three pearl floral brooch she wears from the late Queen.

This three-strand pearl necklace looks longer on Catherine than it did on QEII.

I don't think it is the one the late Queen wore on a daily basis, but another one, she very rarely wore. The shorter one is worn by Anne, if I am not mistaken.

The late Queen must have had dozens of pearl necklaces - her own and likely an equal number inherited from her grandmother and mother and maybe even her sister. I would imagine Anne would get those that her mother wore most often (out of those going to be given away). I'm not 100% convinced Catherine's were an inheritance as such - she wore them during the mourning period for HLM & I can't see someone going into the jewel vaults in the days after her death (more pressing maters I would imagine / appropriateness). More likely IMO they were presented to Catherine before the late Queen's death.
