Even if Chris had been at the Nobel ceremonies he wouldn't have escorted Madeleine, he would have been seated next to princess Christina with husband and escorted some other female guest at the dinner, the same way Jonas was seated in 2009.I thought it was a bit tasteless of him not to attend the ceremony. He's Madeleine's official and recognized partner now, and this was a very big occasion for him to let her go unescorted- especially since they only recently announced their engagement.
As for him being an "official person" because of his engagement to Madeleine as Herman Lindqvist claims, I think is totally wrong, he will be a member of the king's nuclear family as a son-in-law, but he won't have any role in the official royal family, the same way the husbands' of the kings three older sisters hadn't any role or reason to participate in official events. Tord Magnusson have had a bit of a different role, but that have probably more to do with the fact that princess Christina was the sole royal lady in Sweden for a couple of years, and the fact that they live in Stockholm (and also because TM enjoys the attention). I don't expect Chris to drop his job obligations every time Madeleine will make an appearance in Sweden after their marriage (he probably wouldn't have his job for long if he did that), unless he and Madeleine decide to move to Stockholm and live there after the wedding. Chris obviously isn't that interested in being in the media glare as a royal spouse, he reminds me of John Ambler than Tord Magnusson, so why don't let him be himself, he's getting married to Madeleine and be a good husband to her, not to please the entire Swedish population and the members of this forum.
