TV.com has more details. Paul Burrell, who was on the original Australian Princess will be a judge, as will Princess Elisabeth of Yugoslavia's daughter, Catherine Oxenberg. This page, however, says that the show will be on independent television (formerly PAX).

I saw a commercial for it on Women's Entertainment Network and from what I saw, I thought, "How much more ridiculous is reality tv going to get?" Honestly, I thought what I saw was tacky. I saw a bunch of whiny, self-centered, and attention-deprived young women with some acting like fools. I think I'll skip this "princess."

I don't know if cheapening the idea of genuine members of Royal families, by creating a status of "Princess" around an individual competing on a royalty beauty-pagent. The idea is a concept which seems far below the dignity of genuine Princesses. Just stick to Idol and Big Brother, at least they're honest about not being A-grade television.

When a 'winner' is determained what would they recieve? It certainly can't be a title. Perhaps something of the status of Miss World/Universe. But there's no point confusing people any further. The public have enough trouble understanding the functions of Royalty, without the need to have to identify between real Royals, and celebrities pretending to be them...

Sorry if my post is hard-line, I'm not trying to put anyone's noses out of joint, I just think a blatant disreguard for the sanctity of the Royal families is highly disrespectful.

I totally agree. I was surprised that this kind of show would make it to the US, seeing as royalty isn't really that 'popular' here. I guess they are trying to attract the same people who watched the Princess Diaries movies and that other movie, The Prince & Me. That also may be why it's on Women's Entertainment and not a more mainstream cable channel.

I really don't like reality TV, and this show does cheapen the whole idea of royalty - reducing it to some title and status that can be thrown around in people's faces or something. I wonder what the winner will get, though.

The winner will be crowned a "princess" and win a special prize package that will include being escorted to a gala ball by a real life Prince Charming in the United Kingdom.. Silly, i know. lol

Crowned eh? Evidently Mr Burrell isn't that concerned about the tiny matter, obvious to any person who knows a small amount about Princesses, they aren't crowned.

Nor do I know of any 'Prince Charming'. Worsed case scenario, is that the person who wins it, is fooled into believing they have left their old life behind, and become someone of genuine importance.

Yes, he was a real Italian Prince from one of the old Roman Princely families. He visited Australia a couple of years ago representing the family wine-making business. He was particularly charming, as one would expect, and, in the parlance, a "confirmed bachelor".
